I Still Know Who She Is

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would
be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided since I wasn't busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On examining it I saw it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors and got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while! As she is a victim of Alzheimer's disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are? He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me but I still know who she is.' I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life. True love is neither physical nor romantic'.

True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.
Peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

I
hope you share this with someone you care about, I just did.. Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain.

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs.
But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Almighty God, you will make it to a place called Success. Pass it on to ten people whom you want to see blessed. Don't forget to send it back to the one who sent it to you.

A CANDID ADVICE?

On a radio phone-in program, there was this guy who presented his problem thus;

Caller: There's this girl I've known for about 10 months now whom I really really like. I've sent her flowers, called her as many times as possible in a day, everyday, told her sweet things most of it how I felt about her which was entirely true, tried everything to make her give me some attention but she just ignored me. I've moved on since then, though still single.

Then about 4 months ago, I got a new job, bought a car and moved into a new apartment (my own apartment). I guess she got word of this because right now she wouldn't let me rest. She's filling my box with mails, my phone with sms messages and calls me like her father owns the network.

Please advice me as I don't know what to do.

This was the radio presenter's reply.

Presenter: This is what you should do; when you get home on a Friday night, call her up to let her know you'll be coming to her place.

Then you rest a while. When you feel you've had enough rest then take a bath. Put on some neat clothes. Get a bottle of your best perfume.

Then drive over to her place. When you see her, pull her close and give her a very warm embrace. Softly whisper in her ears "Na God go punish you!" Then you take your leave.

7 LESSONS OF LIFE FROM EAGLE

LESSON 1
Eagles fly alone at high altitude and not with sparrows or other small birds. No other bird can go to the height of the eagle. Stay away from sparrows and ravens.
Eagles fly with Eagles.

LESSON 2
Eagles have strong vision. They have the ability to focus on something up to five kilometers away. When an eagle sites his prey, he narrows his focus on it and set out to get it. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it.
Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed.

LESSON 3
Eagles do not eat dead things. They feed only on fresh prey. Vultures eat dead animals, but eagles will not. Be careful with what you feed your eyes and ears with, especially in movies and on TV. Steer clear of outdated and old information. Always do your research well.

LESSON 4
Eagles love the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the storm's wind to lift itself higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagles uses the raging storm to lift itself above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees.
We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers relish challenges and use them profitably.

LESSON 5
The Eagle tests before it trusts. When a female eagle meets a male and they want to mate, she flies down to earth with the male pursuing her and she picks a twig. She flies back into the air with the male pursuing her. Once she has reached a height high enough for her, she lets the twig fall to the ground and watches it as it falls. The male chases after the twig. The faster it falls, the faster he chases it. He has to catch it before it falls to the ground. He then brings it back to the female eagle. The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a higher altitude and then drops the twig for the male to chase. This goes on for hours, with the height increasing until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of catching the twig which shows commitment. Then and only then, will she allow him to mate with her.
Whether in private life or in business, one should test commitment of people inteded for partnership.

LESSON 6
The Eagle Prepares for Changes: When ready to lay eggs, the female and male eagle identify a place very high on a cliff where no predators can reach. The male flies to earth and picks thorns and lays them on the crevice of the cliff, then flies to earth again to collect twigs which he lays in the intended nest. He flies back to earth and picks thorns laying them on top of the twigs. He flies back to earth and picks soft grass to cover the thorns. When this first layering is complete the male eagle runs back to earth and picks more thorns, lays them on the nest; runs back to get grass it on top of the thorns, then plucks his feathers to complete the nest. The thorns on the outside of the nest protect it from possible intruders. Both male and female eagles participate in raising the eagle family. She lays the eggs and protects them; he builds the nest and hunts. During the time of training the young ones to fly, the mother eagle throws the eaglets out of the nest. Because they are scared, they jump into the nest again. Next, she throws them out and then takes off the soft layers of the nest, leaving the thorns bare. When the scared eaglets again jump into the nest, they are pricked by thorns. Shrieking and bleeding they jump out again this time wondering why the mother and father who love them so much are torturing them. Next, mother eagle pushes them off the cliff into the air. As they shriek in fear, father eagle flies out and catches them up on his back before they fall and brings them back to the cliff.. This goes on for sometime until they start flapping their wings. They get excited at this newfound knowledge that they can fly. The preparation of the nest teaches us to prepare for changes; the preparation for the family teaches us that active participation of both partners leads to success; the pricking by the thorns tells us that sometimes being too comfortable where we are may result in us not experiencing life, not progressing and not learning at all. The thorns of life come to teach us that we need to grow, get out of the nest and live on. We may not know it but the seemingly comfortable and safe haven may have thorns.
The people who love us do not let us languish in sloth but push us hard to grow and prosper. Even in seemingly bad actions they have good intentions for us.

LESSON 7
The Eagle Knows when to Retire: When an Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out.
We occasionally need to shed off old habits & vain items that ensnare us rather than adding value to our lives.

A LOYAL WIFE?

There was a man who worked all his life and saved all his money. He was a real miser when it came to his money. He loved money more than anything. Just before he died, he said to his wife: “Now listen, when I die, I want you to take all my money and place it in the casket with me. I wanna take my money to the afterlife.” So he got his wife to promise him with all her heart that when he died, she would put all the money in the casket with him.

One day, he died. He was stretched out in the casket; the wife was sitting there in black, next to her closed friend. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said: “wait a minute! I have a shoe box with me," and came over with the box and placed it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked he casket down and rolled it away. Her friend said, “I hope you weren’t crazy enough to put all the money in the casket?”

“Yes,” the wife said, “I promised, I am a good Christian, I can’t lie. I promised him I was going to put that money in the casket with him.” “You mean to tell me you put every cent of his money in the casket with him?” “I sure did. I got it all together, put it into my account and I wrote him a CHEQUE. ”
